Ok, it’s HOT! Especially in south Arkansas or anywhere in the South for that matter… Now is the perfect time to grab a glass of tea (in this part of the country that means sweet tea) and your stitching and stay in under the air and stitch. While inside, don’t forget to vote in the Customer Gallery! Click here to see the pieces and vote. We’ll be taking votes until the 15th of August.
You might want to start a new project and if so we have several new items on the site. Lizzie Kate has a new Christmas Double Flip starting and, according to the customers who’ve been in to see it, it’s the cutest one yet. See it here. While you’re there, all the Giggle Boxers are in now and would make perfect gifts for your special friends. These are quick to stitch so plenty of time before the Holidays.
Speaking of Holidays, get ready for our big blow-out in October. We’ll have completed our 15th Year on October 15th and we are going to party! All day Friday and all day Saturday, October 15 and 16 we will be having hourly drawings for baskets of goodies; discounts on select merchandise, some up to 50% off; refreshments; Goodie Bags and lots of other fun activities we’ll tell you about as the time get’s closer. Now here’s the important part! in order to participate you need to bring a stitched ornament for the Arts Center Christmas Tree. Ornament does not have to be finished but stitching must be completed. Those of you who are online customers will be able to take advantage of the specials, just mail in an ornament to reach us by the 14th of October and you’ll automatically be eligible. Get stitching on your ornament as you’ll not want to miss this party!
Sadly I have to tell you that Linda Hinckley of Lavender Wings Designs has decided to retire. Many of you have purchased her things from us at Seminars and here in the shop (sorry I don’t have them online but all of her designs are available special order). We’re sorry to loose such a talented designer. You can see her designs here and order them by sending us an email.
Take a look at this incredible piece of work More than 200 stitchers participated in creating this tapestry. It’s worth your time to watch the video!
Still time to sign up for the Needlework Hideaway but if you want my class let us know right away as there is pre-work for the Hardanger in that class. Check it out here.
Until next time, keep stitchin!

A change in schedule you need to know about. We will NOT be closed in June after all. A medical issue with Mr. D changed our plans so we’ll be here all month. Come see us! June’s 15th Anniversary Celebration special is one thread of your choice (limit $3.75 in stock thread) with every $25 thread order you place this month. Use this opportunity to try a new thread or fill in your collection.
Â
Get your pieces together for our annual Christmas in July Customer Gallery. You remember all the beautiful pieces we had here last year. Many of you have completed lovely pieces that will be perfect for this show. Please have your pieces here by June 30. We’ll get them on the site by end of day, July 6 for the voting to begin! Remember there are great prizes for everyone who enters and for those who receive the most customer votes. First, Second, and Third Place prizes will be awarded.
Â
We will be closed for the 4th of July holiday July 1 thru July 5 as we have two new great-grandsons to visit over the holiday. Can’t wait!
Â
We’ve completed a couple more of the Lizzie Kate Painted Canvases. You can see them here or on the blog. Also finished another of the Collector Club canvases. These are both fun clubs to offer and to collect. Sign up today and you’ll receive a new kit each month (or every other month if you prefer) and unlike those who signed up early you shouldn’t have to wait for me to catch up!
Â
New to the site this month, the Soie ‘d alger Thread of the Month Club is a great way to get this beautiful thread coming your way. This silk floss has a wide range of colors and three or more shades in each c! olor so creating beautifully shaded projects is easy. I’m wanting to add to the blue and white theme in my guest room and a lovely pattern for a vase that I’m converting to Soie ‘d Alger will be the perfect addition. Give this great thread a try, sign up here. While you’re there check out the other great threads in our Thread of the Month Club.
Â
Create your own charts using alphabets at this site. Enjoy!
Â
Rhonda is going back to school this fall and her time to work will be limited so if you think you’d enjoy playing with the threads, seeing all the new charts as they arrive, working with people who love needlework as much as you do, and just being out of the house, give me a call. We’re looking for someone who’s interested in part time work so if you’d like a few hours a week, this job’s for you.
Â
Thanks to a customer for a link to this site where you’ll find color listings for lots of the more common threads. Use the lists to help organize your stash. Click on the link to “Creating Order Out of Chaos” for great hints to get organized.
Â
I know many of you enjoy surface embroidery as much as I do. Here you will find some awesome inspiration and great information. Even if you’re not crazy about crazy quilts and surface embroidery the site has a great stitch dictionary so check it out! You know we have all the threads you’ll need to create your special design.
Â
 Enjoy!

Ok, tomorrow is tax day, can’t get out of it so you might as well do something to release the stress of preparing all that information, filling out the forms and writing the check. April 15 is the opening day of the Online Needlework Show so Thursday morning click here and take a look at all the new stitching goodies. Shop the many designers and the tools and toys vendors, send us a list of your must have items and we’ll get them ordered for you while the show is still open. If you haven’t shopped this show before, go to the website and click on General Viewing. Be sure to write down the items you want along with the item numbers and vendor names because there are so many it’s easy to forget where you saw that special something. The show closes on Sunday night so get your information to us no later than Monday morning. Call or email if you have questions, we’ll be checking email frequently during the show to help you out.
More adventures on You Tube! Take a look at the incredible designs on this video at YouTube then enter FZKer8EQPsc in the search window. This company has a website as well so enjoy!
I found this stitcher on the ANG list and thought you would enjoy seeing her work. You can follow her blog as she posts frequently and stitches super speed! I’ve been watching her for awhile and am blown away by how much she gets done…
The ThreadWorx Journal came in this morning. Wow! These people know how to do a newsletter… If you’re not subscribed you’ll want to go to ThreadWorx and click on the Join button in the upper right hand corner. This month they have included a pattern for a Hummingbird with an extensive stitch guide and a cute suggestion for mounting the finished piece. You d! on’t wan t to miss these freebies!
If you haven’t seen this article http://tinyurl.com/yjz45bd yet you might find it interesting. As a shop owner I see this as another market so you might well see me at the local truck stop!
Until then, keep stitching!

You know I really enjoy typing the 2010, it’s fun to think of a new decade ahead of us, a clean slate we can use to write our life’s story. I hope yours includes lots of stitching!
Rhonda told me she wants to see the monthly special at the beginning of the newsletter in case she doesn’t have time to read it all so… All the month of February we will be holding the line on the price of our beading kits. Beads took a price increase beginning January 1 but we want you to have the opportunity to get the kits you’ve been wanting so now’s the time to order. Some beads increased as much as 20% so don’t delay, we will be changing the prices on March 1! Now, I hope you’ll take the time to read on because there are more fun things to follow!
How unbelievably terrible that the new decade began with the devastation in Haiti. You probably have already made donations to the relief effort but Stitcher’s Village has another fun way for you to participate. Click here and purchase Janie’s cute new design created to raise funds for one of the agencies working in Haiti, download the design and stitch it up for a reminder of how fortunate we are to not have to face this horror every day.
While you’re on the Stitcher’s Village page be sure to click on the Stitcher’s Voice and then on the latest edition to read the article about us. Participate in the contest and win the $100 gift certificate to the shop! Use it online or in the shop, or if you’ll be at either of the Region Seminars we are doing this year you can use it there. Want to know more about those Region Seminars? Call the shop and we’ll fill you in.
Another interesting place to visit is Kreinik’s page on Facebook. There you will find photos of stitched pieces using the Kreinik products, along with photos from TNNA Market in California and lots of great ideas to encourage you to stitch. Take a look and don’t forget to Friend us there. We’re under Patricia Ann Dugan. We are also on Twitter if you keep up with your friends that way. I post updates to the Blog and new products in both places so you can be the first to find out what’s going on if you follow us there.
Needlework Hideaway, Spring 2010 is just around the corner. We still have room for you so click here and sign up today. We have awesome goodies planned for the attendees this Spring and a new teacher, Debbie Gwaltney of Starlight Designs offering a couple of great classes. As always, you are welcome to just come sit & stitch in the greatroom! This is a totally fun event, perfect for regrounding, and washing away the stresses in your life. I always leave feeling refreshed and ready. Come join us…
New products include The Sweetheart Tree automatic and the Lizzie Kate automatic. Just type New in the Search engine on the site to see all the new products that have arrived in the last couple of months. Just in today are samples of the new Zweigart Congress Cloth colors. I’ve put together a .pdf file of those colors that you can find and print on the Canvas page and I’ve also posted them on the Blog.
We have an upgraded system for composing the Newsletter this month. Our Webmaster warned that some of you may have problems receiving it because of your email provider so if you have problems just email pat@stitchersworkshop.com and let me know, I’ll send a .pdf of the newsletter for you.
 Until next time, keep stitching,
Pat

Hi all,
Start the New Year off right. Take a few minutes to play. This link was posted on one of the lists I read and it was so much fun I had to share! Enjoy… http://kcaiholidaycard.com/
As you know, we are celebrating our 15th year all of 2010 with different “Thank You” promotions every month. January is 15% off on everything in the Tools and Finishing Supplies section of the website and off all the tools in the shop. Need something you don’t see on the website? Call the shop, we may have it and just don’t have it online yet. Stock up this month with the supplies you use every day!
I was introduced to the Women of Hope Project by a fellow EGA member who’s husband had encountered the organization while in Afghanistan. The work this organization is doing makes a real difference in the lives of women who have had very little help or support. Take a look at what is happening at http://womenofhopeproject.org/home/
We just loaded the Deb Moffett-Hall Birthstone Ornaments to the Bead page of the website. This is a great collector’s item so we’ve added a Birthstone Ornament Collector Club. Sign up and save while you collect the entire series. You can see them here .
Nothing is easier than our Collector Clubs. Just place your order and find a surprise package in your mail every month. We have collections in threads, needlepoint, cross stitch, and beading. Just type Collector Club in the search engine to see them all. If you would like to collect a thread we don’t show as a TOMC just let us know, we’ll set one up.
Don’t forget the January special, especially those of you who drive here together. Groups of five or more will receive a grab bag in addition to the “Thank You” special this month!
If you missed the announcement, we have all the Fern Ridge things on the site now. See them here and here and here. This is a really popular line, try a kit and you’ll see why!
A special thanks to those of you who joined us for the Christmas Party! Your generosity allowed us to take two big boxes of food to the Salvation Army Food Pantry. As it turned out we delivered the food the day they had distributed more than 800 food baskets so the extra items were really appreciated. You are all awesome!
I was going to tell you all about the new contest on the Blog. In fact I said “Visit the Blog for another fun contest. Just click on Blog on the home page of the website to play and win.” However, I had a last minute customer (thank you!) last night and didn’t get this Newsletter sent before my meeting. More people than I realized are following the Blog because when I got back to this this morning I had two correct answers within 5 minutes of each other and in less than an hour after I loaded the contest! Don’t worry, I’ll do another and this time I’ll make sure the announcement goes out before the Blog is posted. But perhaps you need to get set up to get all the posts as soon as they’re loaded by clicking on the RSS Feed button on the right side of the Blog page. A good idea because we’ll be having contests for those who follow the Blog as well as for those who receive the Newsletter. Click on the icon on the right to get that done.
See you soon,
Pat

Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukah!
Invitations to our Christmas Party December 19th from 1-4pm go in the mail this week. Set the date aside and gather up a donation for the Salvation Army food pantry, then come enjoy the hot cocoa and Christmas cookies, and pick a gift from Santa’s Bag.
Online customers have the opportunity to participate as well. All customers ordering the week of December 14 will have the option of donating $2 to the Salvation Army Fund(here)to receive one of the gifts from Santa’s Bag and we’ll pay the extra shipping. More details on the website.
Our 15th Year Thank You this month is 25% off on all in-stock Punch Needle products. There are some cute Christmas pieces that could easily become a gift this year! All that we have are on the site so go to http://www.stitchersworkshop.com/punchneedle.php and make your choice. Quantities are limited so get your’s today!
We will only be accepting framing for Christmas delivery through Saturday, December 5, after that it’s too late. We already have more finishing than will be completed in time and this year Rhonda and I have decided we won’t be stitching the final stocking on the day before Christmas Eve… If you still have something that needs finishing, bring it and we’ll give you ideas about how to finish it and instructions on the techniques. Don’t worry, those of you who have things here should be seeing them in plenty of time.
I’ve found an interesting site (thanks to someone who posted on the ANG list) that I thought I’d share with you. This talented lady has created a couple of articles she titles “Taming Stashzilla” and “Taming Threadzilla” that are quite interesting. You’ll find them at http://www.beusen.net then click on Needlework Resources. These are .pdf files you can either read online or print and read. She also has some great projects posted. Hope you find some inspiration!
DMC is now on Flicker so if you use that site you might want to follow them. Just received a link to their free patterns on Flicker. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dmcdesigns/Â you can download any of the patterns on this page then order your materials on our website.
If you haven’t visited Stitcher’s Village in a while you might want to take a look this month. You can sign up to receive an email when they release the newsletter or you can read it online at http://www.stitchersvillage.com/ Just click on the brown building with the red roof on the right side or your screen to find the newsletter. The 12 Days of Christmas contest has some wonderful prizes donated by the industry’s greatest designers so give it a try, you have 12 opportunities to win!
There’s so much new on the website this month I don’t know where to start telling you about it. Might be best if you just visit http://www.stitchersworkshop.com
Thanks to Marguerite for a link to this page where you will find videos of a number of stitches. The instructions on the couple I watched were good and the sound is pleasant. Take a look and bookmark this page! http://www.needlenthread.com/2006/10/video-library-of-hand-embroidery.html The videos are under Editor’s Floss on the right side of the screen.
From all of us here, have a safe and happy Holiday season and take a few minutes from the busy days to stitch!
See you soon,
Pat

Rhonda is working on this piece and brought it to the shop to select another thread she needed. I was so intrigued that I thought we might have a little fun with it. Here is the picture of Rhonda with the piece. Can you guess what design she’s working on? Somewhere on the website you’ll find the chart for this design. Each week we’ll post a new photo of Rhonda’s progress on the piece so if you can’t tell what it is this week be sure to come back next week to see if you can tell then. It will be fun to see how much of this piece needs to be stitched before someone can identify it!
This is the first hint, can you tell which design this is?
Of course, if you have a contest, you have to have a prize so the first person to email the correct chart name and location on our website (just copy and paste the url in the email) will receive a copy of the chart! This is not a $5 chart but I can’t tell you how much it is because that is too much of a clue… Have fun with this!

Thanks for joining me on this new adventure into the world of internet conversation! As we travel together we’ll both learn more about blogging and hopefully about needlework and the needlework world.
I’ll try to share what I’ve learned about stitching in the many years I’ve been practicing and selling needlework. I’d like to hear all about what you’ve learned as well so please post your comments on anything you see here. Be nice because I get to decide whether to publish your comments, but rest assured I’ll read them all and take them to heart.
My planned blog update schedule is weekly but if something catches my eye between times I may just post it here so check back often to see what’s happening on the site. As I learn the new technology I’ll set up a Twitter account to let you know when I’ve updated so follow me there…
If you’re already on my email Newsletter list then you know that October 10th we began celebrating our 15th year of selling needlework supplies to some of the finest stitchers in the world. We’ll be celebrating all year and will be telling you all about that celebration here.
Thanks for stopping by, leave a comment, and come back again real soon!
