This year was amazingly close with only one vote separating the first and second place winners and two votes between the second and third!
Here’s how it went:
First place goes to Altengamme designed by Marina Dey.
Beautifully stitched by Marguerite Rodgers!
Second Place goes to Quaker Quilts designed by Rosewood Manor.
Can you believe this is Pam Brasher’s first Linen piece?    The stitching is awesome.
Third Place is Little Wings designed by Lavender & Lace
Kerri Tittle stitched this special piece that has won awards at the Union County Fair as well!
Thanks to all who participated in the 2012 Customer Gallery we are all winners because we got to enjoy your work! For those of you who did not have a piece here this year, get going on your entry for next year. If we don’t have Christmas in February next year we will probably have the Customer Gallery in July so get ready.
Special thanks to all of you who took the time to vote either in the shop or here on the blog. I know the stitchers appreciate your support!

What a great feeling! The girls finished recording the last batch of leaflets yesterday and other than the canvases we are finished. Mr D is going to help with the canvases tomorrow and then I get to reconcile everything and get it in presentable form so I can actually see what it is that I have. About five times an hour yesterday I heard them ask each other “can you believe she has this much stuff in here?” I can tell you that in the next little while you should expect that I’ll be making it easier for you to help me move some of it out of the shop. No % off sales but perhaps I’ll “bundle” some things and give you a great price for the bundle. Any of you watch American Pickers?
 See the cute Cat charm?
This week’s Facebook winner will receive this cute scissor fob from My Big Toe Designs! We have a trunk show of her great Stitcher’s Toys here now and it will be here until after Needlework Hideaway the first weekend in November. Come see these pretty pieces.
Go to Facebook and like Stitcher’s Workshop to get entered in our drawing. Each time you like a post you get entered again so don’t miss out!
Next week is Celebration of Needlework in St Charles, Missouri. Both Tracey and I will be there and will be teaching classes so check it out at http://www.celebrationofnw.com/ and join us for some stitching fun!

The holiday season is upon us and I know you’re all really busy but I hope you’ll take the time to visit the shop the first weekend in December for our annual customer appreciation Christmas Party. This year we’ll be playing two days, Friday December 3rd and Saturday December 4th. Christmas cookies, punch or hot chocolate (depending on the weather) and fun sharing of the holiday cheer! Bring a donation to the Red Cross (we’re looking for personal grooming items such as soap, shampoo, lotions, etc) and exchange it for a bag of goodies (think fabric, threads, patterns, etc). The fun starts at 2pm and runs until 5pm each day. We’ll miss you if you’re not here so be sure to come, if only for a few minutes.
Take a look at this amazing piece of needlework and especially at the price received when it sold. Crazy Quilting is a favorite of mine and how exciting that someone recognized the quality of the work and valued it this much. My only thought was “You go Girl!”.
Only a few more days left to enter your design in the Kreinik Ornament design contest. We have a couple of great designs in already and your’s is just what we need. A photo of your stitched piece, the chart, of whatever you have that you can get to us via email or snail mail by the December 1st deadline will get you entered! Click here and scroll down to the second entry to see the example I charted out in just a few minutes. This doesn’t have to be hard, just fun. Come on, join in!
Stitcher’s Village has added a message board and chat room to the village. See those and sign up here.
Thanks to all of you who sent ornaments for the Art Center tree! We will decorate today so I’ll try to post a photo of the finished tree on the Blog later this week. When you place an order or visit the shop and spend more than $25 we’ll include a kit for a Christmas Ornament in your package. If you stitch the ornament and return it for the tree next year we’ll give a 10% discount on  purchases that day.
Have a beautiful holiday season filled with family, friends, good food, music, and laughter. Happy Thanksgiving!

IÂ thought you’d like to see the quick design I put together witn EZ Grapher Stitch Wiz. Of course, this one is not eligible to win the threads <darn> but you get the idea. Design doesn’t have to be hard, just fun!
I used Silk Mori and #4 Braid for this design!
We just discovered that Kreinik is making this product available to support more than just the silk gauze that we told you about. Actually you can use it for any ground you want to stitch on so get out the Aida or Linen or Canvas and draw a 2-1/2″ circle. Stay inside that area and design an ornament. What could be easier and after all you might well win the Grand Prize. Remember it’s $100 in Kreinik threads.
Good Luck!

Â
This is your opportunity to put your creativity to work and earn some great prizes at the same time!
Â
Kreinik Manufacturing, the folks who bring you those wonderful metallic threads, silk Mori floss, needlework kits, silk gauze and other great products is introducing a new product that combines the joy of stitching on silk gauze with the convenience of finishing included. To celebrate this new idea Stitcher’s Workshop and Kreinik have teamed up to bring you a challenge!
Â
Design a piece (think ornament) that, when stitched on 40ct silk gauze, will fit in a 2″ round area. That would give you a stitch count 80 stitches high by 80 stitches wide on the diameter but remember that it’s round so don’t go 80×80! I would suggest you draw a circle on graph paper that is 80 threads on the diameter and you’ll have the correct area to work with. You don’t need to stitch it on 40ct but the design must fit in the area if it was stitched on 40ct. The 2″ allows for sufficient border around the design so just make your piece fit within the 2″ circle. I’ve loaded a .pdf of even weave graph paper to help you work this out. Click here and then click on the counted ground paper link to download the .pdf
Â
Don’t forget to include the great Kreinik threads in your design. Silk Mori and the finer metallics will be perfect for this piece! You’ll find those threads here.
Â
Designs are due in to us by October 1, judging will be completed by October 10 with winners notified immediately so they have time to send the actual piece for presentation at our 15th Anniversary Celebration on the 15th of October. Pieces do not have to be stitched, we can judge from the chart but we will want a stitched piece by the 14th.  Submission may be in person or mailed, or as electronic .jpg files. Judges are independent needlework professionals who are NOT employees of Kreinik Manufacturing or of Stitcher’s Workshop.
Â
Now for the prizes! Grand Prize is $100.00 of Kreinik products. First Prize is $75.00 Gift Certificate, Second Prize is $50.00 Gift Certificate, and Third Prize is a $25.00 Gift Certificate to Stitcher’s Workshop to be used in the shop or online.
Â
Here’s the fine print. Winning entries become the property of Stitcher’s Workshop and will be charted and sold as patterns or kits by Stitcher’s Workshop with credit for the design to the designer. Contestants agree to have their designs posted on the Stitcher’s Workshop Blog or the Kreinik Manufacturing’s Blog and elsewhere online or in traditional media for promotional purposes. Credit to the designer will always be given. Stitcher’s Workshop and Kreinik Manufacturing may, but are not obligated to, offer to purchase designs that are not prize winners for the purpose of charting and selling that design.
Â
Ok, get started and have fun. Who knows, your piece may be the next new design featured with this fabulous new product! Call me if you have questions at 866-862-2239 .
Â
Enjoy,
Â
Pat
