This year was amazingly close with only one vote separating the first and second place winners and two votes between the second and third!
Here’s how it went:
First place goes to Altengamme designed by Marina Dey.
Beautifully stitched by Marguerite Rodgers!
Second Place goes to Quaker Quilts designed by Rosewood Manor.
Can you believe this is Pam Brasher’s first Linen piece?    The stitching is awesome.
Third Place is Little Wings designed by Lavender & Lace
Kerri Tittle stitched this special piece that has won awards at the Union County Fair as well!
Thanks to all who participated in the 2012 Customer Gallery we are all winners because we got to enjoy your work! For those of you who did not have a piece here this year, get going on your entry for next year. If we don’t have Christmas in February next year we will probably have the Customer Gallery in July so get ready.
Special thanks to all of you who took the time to vote either in the shop or here on the blog. I know the stitchers appreciate your support!

My apologies to the stitchers for the quality of the photos. I have a good bit of trouble with the photos of pieces under glass because of our lights here in the shop.
Please note, we are working to get more information about the designers and will update as that information becomes available. If you recognize a piece be sure to let us know.

We’ve been busy around here getting a special project ready to ship to the customer but thought you would like to see it before it leaves!
All cherry wood finished natural and ready for the stitched pieces!
This is one of the bigger pieces Mr D has built for a stitcher and the first time he’s put a drawer in one of these caskets. The customer is stitching Jeanette Douglas’ “My Stitching Treasures” to go in the top of the box and will stitch her name for the front panel. Won’t it be lovely when she gets her pieces mounted!
The Lizzie Kate Mystery Sampler should be shipped to us this week and I’ll get it on the way to those of you who ordered it just as soon as it arrives. This will be a fun project stitched on Weeks Dye Works hand dyed linen with Week’s floss. I understand we can add to our orders as soon as this first shipment goes out so don’t despair if you didn’t get this ordered. Let me know and we’ll put you on the second round of orders right after the first of the month!
In the meantime I’ve added some new pieces from Filigram that you might want to take a look at. See them here. These pieces are stitched with the beautiful Dinky Dye threads and ribbons that we all love to stitch with!
We are participating in the Stitcher’s Village sale that will be in the July newsletter. If you are not yet a member take a look and sign up here.
Our Customer Gallery will run from the 15th of July to the 18th of August this year. Try to have your pieces to the shop by Saturday the 14th so I have time to get them displayed. You may enter any project you have not entered in our Customer Gallery before. If you have questions just give me a call and we’ll talk about it. This is a fun event for the people who participate and a fun way for those who don’t to see what other stitchers are working on.
We will especially miss the pieces from Rose Holly this year. Rose was a consistent participant and a frequent winner in the Customer Gallery but she lost her battle with her health problems this spring. We miss visiting with her and we miss her beautiful work.
More info later in the week about the Christmas in July celebration for 2012, check back often!

Here's a hint, Angie changed the fabric and the thread!

A special thanks to all the great stitchers who allow me to share these works with you. We have some of the most talented stitchers around and this is just a sampling of their work. The Customer Gallery is presented to you every July so plan to put one of your pieces in the 2012 Customer Gallery.
Don’t forget to come back and vote often!

I wanted to share some pictures sent to me by a very creative customer. She stitches on cards and shares those cards with her friends and family, lucky them!

Each card is either her adaptation of an existing design or an original by her using all types of threads. They are lovely as they are, and would be great fun to stitch with threads like Rainbow Gallery, Caron Collection, ThreadworX or Kreinik to name a very few.

Don’t they just make your fingers itch for a needle?
This one is done with a lovely metallic. How elegant!
When a new use of the threads comes along I can hardly wait to give it a try.
This one is done with Stem Stitch.
Ok, one more!
 Look at that sparkle!
As amazing as these are, what if she added buttons or beads? For some a Just Another Button Company button would be perfect, for others Mill Hill’s Treasures would add sparkle and of course either Delicas or Seed Beads would be exciting!
So what are you working on now? Please share with the group what’s fun and exciting in your stitching life!
Thanks,
Pat

CORRECTIONS!!
My apologies to Pat Starks for spelling her name wrong and to Kathy Schenkel for giving credit for her design to A Collection of Designs. Don’t know wehre my brain went while I was working on this…
Â
These pieces were finished by Pat Stark, a regular at Needlework Hideaway, after we had a talk about finishing and a demo of finishing needlepoint canvases. Isn’t it great when someone takes what you’ve shown them and creates such fun pieces!
Pat wanted a different finish for this cute little chick and the "Gift" finishing technique was just what she needed!
